Painter of figures, interiors and genre scenes.

Jean Henri De Coene was a pupil of David and Paelinck. He was especially known as a painter of domestic scenes, seasoned with a string of humor.

He taught at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts from 1841 till 1866 and his workshop was much attended.

Many of his compositions were lithographed.
