Painter, fresco artist and sculptor. Orientalist.

René Martin was born on February 11, 1891 in Paris and died in 1977. He was a pupil of Henri Martin and Léon Bonnat in Paris and exposed at several exhibitions in Paris. From 1913 on he exhibited regularly at the ‘Maison des Arts’ in Zurich. He painted frescoes for the Swiss Legation in Rome and for several churches in Valais in Switzerland. He lived in Marrakech from 1925 till 1940 and collaborated with “l’Illustration” and “La Vie Marocaine Illustrée”. He also produced sculptures on wood.
