Painter of (animated) landscapes and genre scenes; engraver.
He was a pupil of Eug. De Block and a close friend of Edmond De Pratere. He painted in Holland and worked a great deal in Munich. His great reputation started with his participation in the Paris Art Exhibition in 1855. Several works by him figured in exhibitions in Brussels in 1880 and 1905. His short stay in France did not impress him very much and Corot did not influence his work.
