Edouard Vandenbosch was a pupil of the Antwerp Academy. He exhibited at the Antwerp Salon in 1864 and at the Namur Salon in 1874. In 1877 he showed this particular work, “Les pieds dans le plat”, “Flowers and Accessories” and “Flowers” at the Triennale in Ghent. In 1878 he participated at the Exposition Universelle in Paris with “The Cat at Play”, which was also exhibited at the Exhibition of Belgian Art in Brussels in 1880. The artist himself made an etching after this painting.
