Painter of summer landscapes, sights of rivers and cities by moonlight, watercolorist, draughtsman.
Pupil of J. van Ravenzwaay. He made a study-trip to Germany, after which he settled in Hilversum. He lived and worked in Baarn in 1828, from 1830 till 1848 in The Hague, till 1857 in Haarlem, till about 1865 in Arnhem.
He was a member of the Royal Academie of Amsterdam.
