Painter of landscapes, rivers, ports, coasts and seascapes.

Charles-Claude Houssard was a student of Charles Theunissen. He worked in the workshops of Evariste Carpentier and Jean Donnay and in Brussels with Léon Frédéric whose influence is noticeable in his panoramic landscapes and wide skies.

Houssard was inspired by the Belgian coast, the Campine, Zeeland and the Ardennes. He knew how to capture the grandeur of the sea and the majestic serenity of a landscape.

Inscription on the back: “Charles-Claude Houssard – Tempete à Nieuport a été exposé au Salon de Paris – 1930 – Nr 1069 du catalogue”.
