Painter of portraits, history and genre scenes.
Eugène Siberdt was a pupil of Nicaise De Keyser at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He won the Prix de Rome in 1873.
His oeuvre can be placed in the post-romantic era: he loved to illustrate famous episodes of Belgium’s national history, religious subjects and genre scenes with moral messages.
He always painted with a great attention for detail and realism.
