Albert Bettannier was a pupil of Henri Lehman, Diogène Maillart and Isidore Pills. He regularly showed work at the Salon de Paris from 1881, winning an honourabmle mention in the same year and a third class medal in 1885. He was made a Chevalier in the Légion d’Honneur in 1901.
A painter who craved the recovery of lost lands and glory, he produced paintings calculated to revive the patriotism of those defeated in 1870.
