Antonie Waldorp was a pupil of the decorative painter Breckenheymer. In 1849, he went on an art trip with Nuyen. He lived in The Hague until 1858 and later settled down in Amsterdam.

This particular painting is reproduced in the year book 19/2009 “Delfia Batavorum”, Delft 2010, on page 209.
