Robert De Pauw was a pupil of the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts (1855-1862). He was principal of the Wetteren Drawing School and taught art at the St Luke Schools in Ghent and Brussels. He obtained an honourable mention at the Antwerp Exhibition in 1885.

De Pauw also painted religious subjects.

Work in the Brussels Museum.
