Isidore Verheyden was a pupil of Jean-François Portaels and Joseph Quinaux. He exhibited regularly and most successfully at the Triennial Salons. He established himself in the Belgian capital in 1883. He spent some years in the Campine and the lower Scheldt area. He taught at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts from 1900 until his death in 1905. From 1885 onwards, he belonged to the “Les XX” Group.
