Louis Ricquier was a pupil of Mathieu Van Brée at the Academy of his birth-place. He went to Paris where he studied under Philippe Van Brée, brother of Mathieu. He spent several years in Italy and had a much frequented studio in Paris. He exhibited regularly in Belgian, French and Dutch Salons.
