Painter of mainly interiors with figures animated with sunlight or daylight, town views and portraits; watercolorist, etcher and lithographer.
Jan van der Kaa was born in Dordrecht on November 1, 1813 and died in Rotterdam on November 23, 1832. He was a pupil of Pieter Hofman and Carel Frederik Bendorp.
In 1839 he visited Belgium and Germany. In 1848 he animated an evening landscape by Cornelis Gerrit Verburgh.
