Delphin Enjolras was a pupil of the watercolourist Gaston Gérard at the Paris Schools of Fine Arts and of Jean-Léon Gérôme’s studio. He was a frequent exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français, having been a member since 1901.

Enjolras specialised in depicting young women in bourgeois surroundings, sewing under a lamp or undressing by lamp or candle ligth. He was renowned for his elegant nudes.
