Antoon François Heijligers lived and worked in Ravenstein until 1846, in Geertruidenberg from 1848 till 1857 and in Grave from 1859 until 1867. He lived in Belgium (Brussels) for some time, then returned to Holland and finally settled down, in 1878, in The Hague.

Heijligers’ works are executed with lots of finesse and a beautiful harmony of bright colours. He was an excellent draughtsman.
