Painter of town views, animated landscapes and seascapes.

Jacques Carabain was a pupil of Jacobus Schoemaker Doyer and Valentijn Bing at the Amsterdam Academy and continued his studies in Brussels. He obtained Belgian nationality in 1880 and settled in Brussels. He also worked in Germany, France and especially in Italy.

Carabain had a predilection for landscapes, views of villages and towns with characters and monuments. He painted lively town views with figures and markets, which made him very famous.

He exhibited successfully in Belgium and abroad.
