Painter of flowers and still lifes; designer and watercolorist.

Léonie Mottart-Van Marcke was the daughter of Edouard Van Marcke and Catherine Demany. She was her father’s pupil.

She was a founding member of the ‘Société Nationale des Aquarellistes et Pastellistes’ (‘National Association of Watercolorists and Pastellists’) of Brussels and participated in all art events organized by this association. From 1893 she also took part in several Triennial Salons in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent and Liège. She was admitted as a painter and watercolorist to the salons of the Société des Artistes Français in Paris in 1899, 1900, 1901 and 1902, and to the ‘Expositions Internationales des Artistes Contemporains’ (‘International Exhibitions of Contemporary Artists’) in Amsterdam in 1899 and 1903.

For many years she was a member of the jury on the admission and placement committee for the exhibitions of the Cercle des Beaux-Arts de Liège and a member of the Archaeological Institute of Liège.
