Painter of genre scenes, animals and landscapes.

Edmond De Pratere was a pupil of the Academy of his hometown from 1841 on and of his brother Henri, with whom he made his debut as a decorative painter.

He settled in Brussels around 1866 and participated in the Salons of Ghent and Brussels and, from 1861 on, also in the Paris ones. He achieved a lot of success everywhere he came.

He traveled to Paris, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria-Hungary and Italy.

De Pratere masterfully painted hares, donkeys and bulls: both execution and drawing are excellent.
