Henri Carpentero was the son of Jean-Charles Carpentero. Hij was a pupil of Ferdinand De Braekeleer and Nicaise De Keyser.

His productions represented scenes of family life: rustic interiors and countrysides with figures, treated in the spirit of the Antwerp School of 1840-1850.
