Roger Joseph Jourdain studied under Cabanel, Chabanne and Pils. He first exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1869. He became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1883 and received a bronze medal in 1879 and a silver medal in 1881. He won a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 1889 and received a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900.
