Painter of portraits, genre scenes, interiors and historical and religious subjects; draughtsman.
Jean-Baptiste Anthony was the son of a goldsmith and a pupil of the painter of historical scenes Louis Hendrix.
He was a very meticulous painter and a true perfectionist with an excellent eye for colour.
He is known for his depiction of the altar panel representing Saint Barbara in the Antwerp Cathedral. Two of his works can also be admired in the Tilburg Church.
