Karel Van Belle was a pupil of the Ghent Academy under Jules Van Biesbroeck, Jean Delvin and Louis Tytgadt. He received an honorable mention at the Prix de Rome of 1913. He painted very precious and refined works in which he often depicted mystic female figures, like a spiritual reproduction of an inner dream. He also created Madonna’s, young girls, greyhounds and decorative panels. He was also inspired by romantic and historical scenes.
