Painter of genre scenes, portraits, animated landscapes and town views.

Edmond Grandjean was a pupil of the Paris School of Fine Arts (1862). He studied under Adolphe Yvon, Emile Signol and Isidore Pils. He exhibited at the Paris Salon, later the Salon des Artistes Français, from 1865 till 1906. He was awarded an honorable mention in 1881, a third class medal in 1888, a second class medal in 1898 and another honorable mention in 1900 at the World Fair.

Grandjean mostly painted genre scenes and animated landscapes as a pretext for representing horses mounted by distinguished horse riders, sometimes representing well-known aristocrats.
