Maurice Proux was a coachbuilder in Courbevoie, Seine.
Maurice Proux entered the field of custom coachbuilders relatively late (1929), though he aimed at the same market as firms like Binder and Franay. He worked mainly on prestigious chassis such as Bugatti, Cord, Delage, Hispano-Suiza, Minerva and Packard. At the Concours d’Elegance organised by the magazine “L’Auto” in June 1929 he entered 17 cars, of which 15 reached the finals. A 20CV Panhard cabriolet with enveloping wings won the feminine trophy.
Despite his talent and the high quality of his designs, his work was not sufficiently distinctive to survive the Depression and Proux closed its doors in 1931.
