Painter of historical subjects and genre scenes; engraver.

Charles-Augustin Wauters was born in Mechlin in 1811 and died in Boom in 1869.

He was a pupil of the Art Schools of Mechlin and Brussels.

The Cathedral of Saint-Rombaut in Mechlin has his “The Last Supper” in its collection and the church of Saint-Andrew in Antwerp “The Way of the Cross” (1852) and “The Entombment”.
