Painter of genre scenes and historical and military subjects; watercolourist, engraver, draughtsman and illustrator.
Baron Félicien de Myrbach-Rheinfeld was one of the founding members of the Vienna Secession, director of the Applied Arts School in Vienna and an important figure in the creation of the Wiener Werkstätte.
He made his debut in Vienna. In 1881 he travelled to Paris and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1889 he won a medal at the Exposition Universelle. He also exhibited in the IVth, Xth and XIIIth Exhibition of the Vienna Secession.
Baron de Myrbach-Rheinfeld contributed to a number of illustrated publications in Paris including François Coppée’s “Oeuvres complètes” (“Complete Works”), Edmond About’s “Tolla” and Adelbert von Chamisso’s “Peter Schlémihl”.
