Théodore Joseph Lodewijk Geirnaert was a pupil of the Academy of Ghent. He then studied with Willem Herreyns in Antwerp and two years with Joseph Paelinck in Ghent. He won prizes in competitions in Brussels (1818) and Ghent (1820).
Geirnaert was a teacher at the Ghent Academy and the tutor of Jacques-Louis Godineau and Henri De Nobele. He received medals in Douai and Paris.
Eugène Verboeckhoven lithographed a portrait of him in 1827.
At the Brussels National Exhibition of Brussels of 1842 “View of the transept of Amiens Cathedral” and “View of the istalls in Amiens Cathedral” were displayed.
