Aimé Perret, a pupil of Joseph Benoît Guichard, Antoine Vollon, Puvis de Chavannes and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyons, first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1869. He was awarded a third-class medal in 1887, a second class medal in 1888 and a bronze medal during the Exposition Universelle of 1889. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 1884 and was one of the founders of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
