Wilhelm Herberholz settled in Düsseldorf and studied at the Kustakademie of the city after his studies at the Kustakademie in Kassel.

He exhibited at the Greater Berlin Exhibition from 1910 to 1914 and from 1911 to 1914 in the Exhibition in Düsseldorf.

In 1914 he volounteered for the army and became part of the army press office as an aquarellist.
