Painter of portraits, family scenes and landscapes.

Frans De Wilde was the son of Auguste De Wilde. He studied at the Academies of Saint-Nicolas (1853-1861, A. De Wilde) and Antwerp (1861-1864, N. De Keyser). He became a professor at the Academy of Saint-Nicolas (1869-1906).

He won the Third Price of Rome (1865). He realised with Guffens and Swerts the wall paintings of the Church of the Notre Dame in Saint-Nicolas (1870). He painted several portraits of notables.

Rétrospective “Auguste and Frans De Wilde” at the Museum of Saint-Nicolas in 1986.
