Painter of genre scenes.
David Col was a pupil of Nicaise De Keyser at the Antwerp Academy and specialised in anecdotical scenes. He made his debut in 1846 in Antwerp. Many of his works were bought by American collectors. He exhibited with great success in Antwerp, Brussels, Dunkerque, Ypres and Philadelphia. He collaborated with Eugène Maes, Hendrik Savrij, Cornelis Van Leemputten and Henri Schouten.
Some of his paintings are in the collections of the Fine Arts Museum in Antwerp and the Groeninge Museum in Bruges.
