Painter of animated scenes and landscapes, waterscapes and seascapes.

Ferdinand Joseph Gueldry was a pupil of Jean-Leon Gérôme. He made his Salon debut in 1878, winning a third class medal in 1885, a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and a travel bursary in 1900. He was made Chevalier in the Légion d’Honneur in 1908.

His early subjects depict factory workers and craftsmen, later on his works include riverscapes, marshes, lakes and boating scenes.
