He became a well known portraitist of many Belgian and French celebrities. He made illustrations for several magazines, like “Revue Illustrée” to name but one. French in his subject matter, he is Flemish in his gift of colour and his accuracy of drawing. He was held in high repute.

The Petit Palais Museum in Paris conserves his “Funeral of Charles the Good, Count of Flanders, held on April 22, 1127 in Bruges”. “A Parisian Lady” can be admired in the Rouen Fine Arts Museum and “A Musketeer (1874)” in the Arras Fine Arts Museum.
